30 momme: the top of the range

Momme (mm) is the measure of silk density - how much silk fibre goes into every square inch. Most pillowcases sold as silk sit between 16 and 22 momme. At 30 momme this fabric contains substantially more silk, which gives it a noticeably denser hand, a deeper and more multi-dimensional lustre, better drape and considerably greater durability. It is the weight people choose when they want silk to feel like an investment rather than an accessory - and the answer if you have been looking for the thickest, most durable silk pillowcase you can buy.

Silk on both sides, not just the top

There is no cheaper cotton or polyester backing here: both the sleeping surface and the underside are 100% Grade 6A mulberry silk. Whichever way you turn the pillow you get the same cool, friction-free surface - and a far longer service life, because wear is distributed evenly across the entire case instead of concentrating on one face.

Oversized envelope closure - no zipper

A slightly offset side entry with a generous overlapping flap holds the pillow securely in place with no hardware at all. There is no zipper to snag your hair, catch on the pillow or break in the wash, and the case doubles as a sham when you want a more dressed look.

Silk friction against skin is around 7.4%, the lowest of any fibre, so your face and hair glide rather than drag. Silk pillowcase care instructions

Dry clean or hand wash in cool water are the gentlest options. You can also machine wash on the delicate cycle - use a mesh wash bag and a pH-neutral detergent formulated for silk. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry; lay flat to air dry away from direct sunlight. Cool iron on the reverse side if needed.
